A Renaissance castle like no other, Uhuburg is a philosophical, food producing, naturalistic, and celebratory place located outside the Alpine, Bavarian City of Helen, Georgia.

Uhuburg is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. With castle walls to wander, towers to climb and philosophical murals to contemplate, the castle awaits you. Spend the day exploring the grounds or stay in a castle chamber for an unforgettable and enchanting experience!

A Bit of the Story

Father ~ Daughter Duo

Bob Marthai   Owner, architect and builder who dreamed of building a castle in the mountains of North Georgia to share what he has found to be important for the good life. He has returned to this area after spending some of his youth here at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School. Bob is an ex-psychologist, retired tall ship captain and naval architect.
Naomi Marthai   Manager and Admin Assistant to Bob with a hand in mural artistry and gardening. Naomi was previously a captain for the family schooner business and then taught 8th grade science for 11 years. She loves to dance, especially with her parents (Bob & Janine!).
