Try your hand at Medieval Swordsmanship with Appalachian Sword Club!
Join us for a dynamic and exciting experience in the Medieval art of swordsmanship through the lens of historical manuscripts with Danial and Ash! Hosting a series of mini workshops throughout the day, they will do demonstrations, discuss highlights of using the manuscripts, and provide hands-on experience with swords for interested participants. Danial and Ash work with local fencing clubs and Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA).

Contra at the Castle is back, this time in masks! Join us on October 12 for the Masquerade Contra at the Castle. Expect a unique experience!
6:00 Parking opens
6 - 7:30 Explore Uhuburg
7:00 Forum on Philosophy of Dance (optional for all interested dancers)
7:15 Intro session for new dancers
7:30-10:30 Contra in the Great Hall

Contra at the Castle sold out in June, so get your tickets early (tickets will likely not be available at the door). Get Tickets Now
Tickets are nonrefundable but transferrable. Please Contact Us to transfer tickets to other dancers and include the registration name and who tickets are to be transferred to.
Masquerade Specifics
We ask that you wear a mask for this masquerade contra; matching attire optional.
Want to be part of the full experience? We are looking for dancers to submit their character title and be announced at the start of the dance. Check back in for inspiration and guidance on how to submit your Masquerade persona name.

Logistics
Shuttle service between parking and castle will run from 6:00-8:00pm, at 9:30, and from 10 to 11pm.
All dancers are welcome, but some experience is recommended.
When dance begins, all castle grounds close except for the Great Hall.
This dance is not a good fit for children; all present need a ticket.
What to Bring
A dazzling mask! Please bring a water bottle. Walking shoes for exploring prior to the dance and dance shoes to change into are recommended. You are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy during Explore Uhuburg time. Water fountains are available near public restrooms.

An all day, limited-ticket event for content creators to have extended access to Uhuburg for capturing stunning and imaginative photoshoots. Grab your photoshoot buddy or tripod and make a day of it!

Calendar
The 2024 schedule is up and running with swordsmanship, Uhuburg's inaugural Ball and Contra Dance, and our brand new photoshoot event called Creator Day (date tbd!). We look forward to hosting events such as seasonal festivals, creator workshops, family days and contra dances. As a place of learning, Uhuburg will offer workshops related to applications of philosophy, independent thinking, nature, geology, and practical gardening.
